SUMMARY:Listen & Learn\, 6 p.m.\, Register Today!
DESCRIPTION:This summer\, the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum in Dallas\, Texas hosted a very special exhibition entitled “A Better Life for Their Children.” It was an exhibition that focused on the partnership between Julius Rosenwald\, a businessman\, philanthropist\, and president of Sears Roebuck\, and Booker T. Washington\, an educator of the Tuskegee Institute\, author\, and reformer. The two men forged a relationship and partnership to build nearly 5\,000 schools for black children across the segregated South. \nProject Unity’s October Listen & Learn segment features the story of Julius Rosenwald and his journey as a Jewish businessman\, philanthropist\, and family man. What compelled him to partner with Booker T. Washington to elevate education for black children? Why did he dedicate himself to the movement of social change? His life’s journey will be shared by Stephanie Deutsch\, who is married to the great-grandson of Julius Rosenwald and author of the book about the school’s initiative\, You Need a Schoolhouse. \nYou are invited to the October listening event with Stephanie as she tells the story of Julius Rosenwald\, as we learn about the story behind the President of Sears and Roebuck and his commitment to social change and education. \nRegister Now!
