Director of Development
ABOUT THE JOB
This position reports directly to the Founder/Chief Visionary Officer (F/CVO). The ideal
candidate will lead core fundraising initiatives for the annual signature fundraising concert and
awards event, the annual North Texas Giving Day campaign, ongoing donor development and
management, and grant program management. The F/CVO may delegate other recurring or
one-time fundraising duties. The ideal candidate will work closely with top and senior leaders to
create a strategic fundraising and development plan that aligns with our organization’s mission,
operations, and community-focused output goals. The ideal candidate must have demonstrated
experience and success in fundraising/development and in sustaining and building supporter
networks. The consummate professional who possesses core skills that include strong strategic
thinking ability, a charismatic interpersonal style, robust networking ability, a self-starter work
ethic, and strong written and oral communications skills will be successful in this role.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead annual Together We Sing signature fundraiser sponsors and donors development

Create professional presentation decks for prospective sponsors, donors, and partners that promote Project Unity’s visibility, community impact, and programs and events funding needs and opportunities

Lead the annual North Texas Giving Day campaign while working with key team members to create and coordinate marketing and messaging to generate giving

Develop and manage communications and correspondence associated with fundraising campaigns and giving initiatives

Establish a formal fundraising and development program that outlines funds acquisition strategies and approaches, funding goals, activity schedules, fundraising resource needs, etc.

Research and identify grant opportunities and prospective donors

Collaborate with colleagues to write compelling funding requests and grant proposals

Oversee donor acknowledgements and recognition

Maintain the donor database and tracking system

Collaborate with colleagues to create and design marketing materials that promote the Project Unity brand and fundraising activities

Perform other duties as needed
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- 3+ years of fundraising experience; experience in the non–profit sector preferred
- Grant and/or proposal writing experience a plus
- Professional demeanor and strong business acumen
- Strong networking skills
- Distinguishing interpersonal savvy
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to work independently and process information quickly
- Self–starter with proactive, strategic thinking skills
- Works and collaborates well with others
- Sound judgement and tactful in challenging situations
- Proficient with MS Office Suite – Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Sincere interest in race relations, diversity, equity and inclusion, law enforcement relations and community building
EDUCATION
Bachelor degree in marketing, sales, communications, business, or related fields
